miscellanea
i finally finished my first real book in a long, long time (the english patient by michael ondaatje). it was really good although i thought the ending sort of sucked. but the last chapter—i want to tear the pages out and send them to... whom? they belong somewhere, in someone's possession. i just don't know where. so i've posted them here for all of you. i was in oak harbor today to buy three-prong to two-prong power outlet adapters. on my way out of walgreen's i saw they were selling those energy efficient light bulbs four for a dollar. i bought eight! keep in mind that that's more lights than i have in my apartment. but it seemed like such a good deal. i've become that guy. ever since i was a child, i've had a very strong sense of order, of how things ought to be. this manifests itself in weird ways today. for example, whidbey island drivers are about half a step away from driving me to the trifecta of tailgating, swerving wildly, and honking nonstop. i wish to god that the law forbidding a slow driver from delaying four or more cars was enforced. okay, finally, i've heard a lot about the catholic church announcing seven new sins. i wasn't going to say anything but it keeps on coming up. they're not new sins, people; just the way the good old sins are applicable to our lives today. here's catholic news's account of the same story. alright, that's it from me. i'm going to go to bed so i can head back up to whidbey tomorrow morning! |
